The objective of this course is to provide students with hands-on experience wiring building automation systems. This course will cover reading and interpreting shop drawings and applying that knowledge to wiring a simulated air handling system in the shop.
In the shop, students will wire temperature, humidity and pressure sensors, as well as heating, chilled water control valves and dampers. The class will wire variable frequency drives that will be controlled via BACnet communication protocol.
When the projects are wired, the class will be involved with troubleshooting the wiring through a web-based browser. The projects will then be commissioned by the students verifying that the wiring, programming and graphics meet the requirements of the provided shop drawings.
